Pradosh Vrat is famous among Hindu fasts marked to worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Pradosh Vrat is observed on Trayodashi Tithi (13th day) of Krishna and Shukla Paksha of every Hindu month. As a result, it appears twice a month in the Hindu calendar. If Pradosh Vrat falls on Monday, it is known as Soma Pradosham. It is called Bhu Pradosham on Tuesday and Shani Pradosham on Saturday.
PRADOSH VRAT TITHI
Pradosh Vrat will be observed this month on Friday, 20th August. According to the Panchang, there will be a lucky coincidence during Pradosh fast. Trayodashi will start from 10:54 pm on 19th August and will continue till 08:50 pm on 20th August. There will be Ayushman and Saubhagya Yoga around Pradosh fast.
According to the Panchang, Ayushman Yoga will remain open till 03.32 pm on August 20. After this, Saubhagya Yoga will start. In astrology, both these yogas are said to give favorable results.
PRADOSH VRAT PUJA AND VIDHI
Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshiped on the day of Pradosh Vrat. One should wake up early on this day and take bath. Then, take a vow to worship Lord Shiva with all your heart while following the rituals. Clean the area of devotion thoroughly and install the idols of Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati.
After this, while offering Gangajal to Lord Shiva, chant Shiva Mantras. Offer offerings of cannabis, datura, belpatra, akshat, incense, fruits, flowers and kheer to Bholenath in the evening. It is important to recite Shiv Chalisa and Shivashtak on this day. Worshiping on this day brings happiness and prosperity in the house.

The Skanda Purana specifically mentions the benefits of Pradosh Vrat. It is believed that a person who observes this revered fast with dedication and faith is blessed with contentment, wealth and good health. Pradosh Vrat is also observed for spiritual upliftment and fulfillment of aspirations. It has been highly praised by Hindu scriptures and is revered by Lord Shiva devotees.
