Sawan 2022 News UpdatesAround 5,00,000 devotees of Lord Shiva are expected to worship Lord Shiva in the month of Shravan at the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, the temple’s public relations officer (PRO) said.

Today marks the beginning of the holy month of Sawan (Shravan), which is considered the most auspicious month of the year. The month holds great significance for the devotees of Lord Shiva, who according to Hindu religious beliefs is the creator, protector and destroyer of the universe.

Although the Vishwanath Temple is always full of devotees, it generally sees a significant increase in the crowd during this month. Usually, along with the temple site, crowds started appearing on the banks of the river Ganges.

It is also expected that apart from Kanwariyas, devotees of Lord Shiva from North India, South India and Western India will also start coming from Monday. Most of the devotees present on the first day of Shravan month felt happy.

Nardeep Singh, one of the devotees from Odisha, told that he has come to ‘darshan’ of the deity by road on the first day of the holy month of Sawan, as he is very excited about the occasion since then.

Another devotee Hemant Rao feels “lucky enough” to visit Kashi Vishwanath today. Talking about the importance of the occasion, one Bharat Pandey told ANI that the importance of worshiping Lord Shiva in this month is always more than one. remaining 11 months.

“From Guru Purnima to the full moon of Raksha Bandhan, this 31-day festival is considered the most sacred,” Pandey said.

He further added that the priests are most busy during this month. Since this is happening after a gap of two years due to corona, the devotees are more excited to visit the deity and take the holy dip,” he said.

In the month of Shravan, devotees observe a fast on Mondays, which are considered particularly auspicious days of the month. Lord Shiva is worshiped on Mondays throughout the year and the Mondays of this month are especially important as the entire month is dedicated to the Lord. This festival is mainly celebrated in North India.

This year Sawan will start from 14th July and will end on 12th August. There are four Mondays during this period – July 18, July 25, August 1 and August 8.
