‘Satyendar Jain Should Be Given Padma Vibhushan’: Delhi CM Kejriwal On His Minister in ED Custody

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said Satyendar Jain, who is in ED custody in a money laundering case, should be given the “Padma Vibhushan” for the work done by him.

“Satyendra Jain is a patriot. The country should be proud of him, he gave Mohalla Clinic to Delhi. People have come from all over the world to see it. He should be given Padma Vibhushan. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said let everyone interrogate him, CBI has already acquitted him, ED too.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case on Monday and was remanded in ED custody till June 9 on Tuesday.

While CM Kejriwal has been continuously defending his minister since his arrest, Union minister and BJP leader Smriti Irani on Wednesday questioned Jain on his money laundering case.

He asked Kejriwal whether it was true that Jain had acquired 200 bighas of land with black money. “Is it true that this land was with unauthorized colonies which were later regularised?” He added.

“Kejriwal ji, is it true that Satyendar Jain himself declared under Income Disclosure 2016 that he was involved in money laundering amounting to Rs 16.39 crore? Ankush Jain and Vaibhav Jain became the channel for this,” said Smriti Irani.

“Is it a fact that the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax has rejected the fact that neither Ankush Jain nor Vaibhav Jain but Satyendra Jain himself was the owner of this black money, the real owner of Rs 16.39 crore?” He added.

On Wednesday, Arvind Kejriwal had defended Jain, saying “we do not and never will tolerate any corruption” and said there is no truth in the case against Jain and it is motivated by political reasons.
