The pair derailed on lap 48 as Hamilton tried to pass and Verstappen defended so aggressively that the Briton’s Mercedes team felt a time penalty should have been imposed for the Dutch youngster.

The stewards noted the incident during the race, but concluded based on the evidence they had, that no investigation was necessary.
