Sankashti Chaturthi 2023: Pune Police Announces Traffic Restrictions Near Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple; Check Details

SANKASHTI CHATURTHI 2023: To accommodate the increased vehicular flow of devotees, on the occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, the Pune city traffic police has implemented traffic diversion in the central parts of the city from Thursday. Due to Sankashti Chaturthi, a large number of devotees are expected to visit Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple at Shivji Road to seek the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

As per news reports, the traffic changes implemented by the Pune City Traffic Police from Thursday morning will remain in force throughout the day as per the requirement. These changes have been made keeping in mind the auspicious occasion of Sankashti Chaturthi, which is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune.

Talking about changes in traffic, according to a report in Indian Express, mainly four restrictions have been imposed.

Avoid these routes near Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple

1. Under these traffic changes, the authorities have prohibited any heavy vehicle from plying from SG Barve Chowk to Swargate via Shivaji Road.
2. The rule applies to all heavy vehicles except Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses, which will be allowed to ply on the same route.
3. To make this possible, the traffic police has reportedly created a temporary ‘no parking-no halting’ zone between Premier Garage Chowk and Nagdev Oil Depot Chowk.
4. With a view to avoid any crowding, the authorities have reportedly set a circular route for PMPML buses via Premier Garage Chowk, Mangala Theatre, Khude Chowk and PMC Corner.
5. Not only this, if you are planning to go to Mangala Theater from Premier Garage Chowk, then you should know that the authorities have diverted vehicles coming from the area via SG Barve Chowk and Balgandharva Chowk.
6. If you are coming from Jijamata Chowk towards Swargate via Shivaji Road, then you should know that the Pune City Traffic Police has diverted the vehicles coming from these routes through three alternative routes.
7. The first alternate route goes through Phadke Haud and Dewajibaba Chowk. While the second route is diverted via Gadgil Pratima and Kumbharves, the third is via Gadgil Pratima and Phadke Haud.
8. In addition, traffic from Appa Balwant Chowk Marg to Budhwar Chowk has now been diverted towards Bajirao Road from Appa Balwant Chowk itself.
