new Delhi: Jet Airways on Friday appointed Sanjeev Kapoor as the chief executive officer (CEO) of the airline.
The airline said that it will join Jet Airways on April 4.
His appointment comes days after the airline brought in former Sri Lankan Airlines CEO Vipula Gunathileka as Chief Financial Officer.
According to a PTI report, Kapoor, who is currently the chairman of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, has been associated with budget carriers SpiceJet and GoAir as well as full-service carrier Vistara in various capacities in the past.
Grounded Jet Airways, which has not taken off since April 17, 2019, is in the process of resuming operations under its new promoter Jalan-Kalrock consortium.
Murari Lal Jalan, Principal Partner, Jalan-Colorrock Consortium and Proposed Non-Executive Chairman of Jet Airways, said, “Sanjeev (Kapoor) is a seasoned aviation professional who has the right mix and demeanor to put a team together. I have always believed in investing in human capital and with Sanjeev as CEO and Vipula as CFO, I am sure that Jet Airways will regain its lost glory and exceed everyone’s expectations. ,
Jalan said Kapoor will be able to lead Jet Airways and make it India’s most preferred full-service carrier.
Sanjeev Kapoor said, ‘I am looking forward to getting back in aviation. Even though Jet Airways has been out of operations for three years, it still has a huge fan base of loyal customers who miss it every day and can’t wait for it to take to the skies again,” it adds. Led the charge in rebuilding Jet Airways into the most preferred customer-oriented airline once again for the digital age as he looks forward.
