“This victory is important. We have won many elections and lost many. But this is our first victory outside Maharashtra. We tried hard to go beyond Maharashtra and we needed a win. Of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. This is the biggest win in history as the margin is over 50,000,” said executive editor of Saamana.
Raut was seen as a key architect of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government when it was formed in November 2019. Raut’s daily press conferences and scathing attacks on the BJP were appreciated not only by the Shiv Sena but also by the NCP.
“Sanjay Raut has been in form since the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly election results. For all practical purposes, he was the architect and face of the MVA until the government was formed. Even after that, he is the strongest anti-BJP voice in the MVA. While he was always a good orator, writer and sharp speaker, he was not an elector. But with the victory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, he has now proved himself as an election strategist,” said a political observer.
Raut was camping in Dadra and Nagar Haveli for several weeks before the elections. Due to the Union Territory of Gujarat, BJP and considerable presence in the area, but the area was new to Shiv Sena.
