  • Aam Aadmi Party has given ticket to district head Gurmel Singh from Sangrur seat. He has also filed his nomination yesterday along with CM Bhagwant Mann. However, Manpreet Kaur, Mann’s sister, was demanding a ticket from here. The party reposed faith in the volunteers. Gurmel Singh is also the Sarpanch from the village Gharach of Sangrur.
  • The Akali Dal has fielded Kamaljit Kaur, sister of jailed Balwant Singh Rajoana. The Akali Dal is playing the Panthak card here. Kamaljit Kaur has been given a ticket by linking it with the captive Sikhs. Rajoana is serving a prison term in jail for the murder of former CM Beant Singh. She will file nomination tomorrow.
  • SAD (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Mann is also in the fray. In the last several elections, his party has been ignored. However, in the recently concluded assembly elections, he got good votes in Amargarh seat. After which he has contested from Sangrur seat.

Confusion in Congress
Confusion continues in Congress regarding Lok Sabha candidate. Congress wanted to bring down Balkaur Singh, father of Punjabi singer Sidhu Musewala, who was murdered in Mansa. But he refused to contest the election. Former minister Vijay Inder Singla also does not want to contest elections. Congress can now get Dalveer Goldie or his wife Simrat Kaur, who lost the election from Dhuri assembly seat to Bhagwant Mann, to contest.
