Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: What is the display camera of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: How it works and other details – Times of India

samsung It has launched its first phone with an under-display camera. was dubbed Galaxy Z Fold 3The smartphone has a 4MP selfie camera which is placed below the screen of the phone. The notch, or what Samsung calls the infinity cutout, is visible only when the display is asleep. While using the device, you will get a full display to use. Let’s find out how Samsung has made it possible
Brighter screen, less energy consumption
Samsung says it uses the company’s new under-display camera technology with the new Galaxy Z Fold 3. The technology applies minimal pixels to the top of the camera hole which provides device users with an increased viewing area.
Also, Samsung is using Echo Display technology which helps in delivering 29% brighter screen while consuming less energy.
As we said earlier, the foldable panel of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 still comes with the Infinity-O cutout. But you can see the cutout when the display is sleeping. Noticeability also depends on factors such as viewing angle and screen brightness level. The brighter the screen, the more hidden the under-display camera.
Is the camera cut completely invisible
As mentioned above, the camera cutout is visible, though not obvious, when viewed a certain way. If you look at a dark image on the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s display, the Infinity-O cutout and UDC sensor are clearly visible. This is technically the same as the pixels of an AMOLED display. AMOLED screens achieve deeper blacks by turning off individual pixels. So, if an image around the UDC of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is pitch-dark, the pixels are clipped off to make the Infinity-O cutout more noticeable.
What other brands offer under Display Camera
Recently, Xiaomi launched its Mi Mix flagship phone in China which is the company’s first
Coming to a commercial phone with a camera placed below the display. Earlier this month, Oppo showcased its latest under-screen camera technology which it claims can be used to place the selfie camera under the display ‘without compromising on the integrity of the screen’. ZTE has also launched ZTE Axon 20 and ZTE Axon 30 with under-screen cameras for selfies. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will be the first phone to come with an under-display camera in India. As all other devices are yet to launch outside China.
