Samsung chief finally talks about app throttling issue, apologizes for mistake

Samsung is finally taking concrete steps to address the app throttling issue that has plagued the company over the past week. The new revelations mean that the Galaxy S series phones were recently removed from benchmark sites. It has released an update to fix the problem of users.

And now, the company’s CEO has apologized for the ongoing controversy. Samsung DeX CEO JH Han was speaking to shareholders and acknowledged that the company was unable to address customer concerns on the issue. Actually, he bowed his head apologizing for showing seriousness on the matter.

Samsung has faced allegations of manipulating the performance of its devices, including the latest Galaxy S22 series. It was found that the company had used Game Optimization Service (GOS) apps to limit the performance of apps, especially for gaming apps. The news came to light last week after some YouTubers tried out the Benchmark app on the phone and found that Samsung was using unfair practices without letting customers know about it.

The company is also facing scrutiny from the Fair Trade Commission in South Korea, accusing the company of overselling the display of the Galaxy S22 smartphone.

The Galaxy S22 series goes up against Apple in the premium segment. And it is not right for the company to do such manipulation. The trust factor is really important, and Samsung should know this better than most brands out there.

The new update to fix the GOS issue is yet to reach the global markets, where new phones have been launched.
