Samrat Prithviraj’s shows canceled due to zero occupancy: Akshay Kumar’s film struggles at the box office

Several media reports claim that Samrat Prithviraj’s shows were canceled due to zero occupancy. As per the ongoing reports, the poor performance of Akshay KumarShows have been canceled at many places due to the film at the box office. Bollywood Hungama reports that the exhibitors were facing huge losses due to lack of viewership and hence decided to reduce the number of shows on a daily basis.

“Business in Mumbai city was not good even on weekends. So it was bound to fall on Monday. Still, we didn’t expect the morning show to get canceled due to zero viewership. Where the shows were not cancelled, the occupancy was in single digits. Same is the case on Tuesday. The situation was the same in Kolkata and Bangalore as well. The situation in Delhi was slightly better. The film has done well in the Hindi belt. However, metros with high density of multiplexes and high ticket rates performed poorly in the first three days and hence these theaters have been performing poorly since Monday,” the report quoted a source as saying.

Samrat Prithviraj Box Office Collection

Samrat Prithviraj had a low first week at the box office and the collections kept falling on weekdays with the biggest drop on Thursday. Box Office India reports that the first week collection of the film is around Rs 55 crore. The film could not earn much on weekdays after running in a net weekend of around Rs 40 crores.

The film Samrat Prithviraj is based on the life of the great warrior Prithviraj Chauhan and his love for princess Sanyogita. Akshay Kumar is seen playing the role of the legendary warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan, who fought valiantly to defend India’s independence from the ruthless invader Muhammad of Ghor. Former Miss World Manushi Chhillar is playing the character of Princess Sanyogita. It also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana and Manav Vij, who plays the antagonist Muhammad Ghori.

Chandraprakash Dwivedi, best known for directing the TV epic ‘Chanakya’ and the critically acclaimed film ‘Pinjar’, has directed this film as his first historical film under the Yash Raj Films banner.

The film released theatrically on 3 June in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
