Samantha Ruth Prabhu is gearing up for the release of Shakuntalam
Samantha Ruth Prabhu opens up about her film Shakuntalam and reveals that she is nervous ahead of its release.
Samantha Ruth is all set for the release of her film Shakuntalam opposite Prabhu Dev Mohan. These days the actress is busy with promotional events and interviews. During her recent media interaction, Samantha, who shot to pan-India fame with The Family Man 2, talked about the shrinking divide between the North and South industries. She said there is no wall between films from the North and South and as an actor, it gives her ‘great pleasure’ that she can work in films of different languages.
“Nowadays, the audience watches films from different languages as well,” she told ANI. Talking about her film, she said, “It is a love story. And love is like a universe in itself. Our cultural heritage is rich. And its story film is inspired by one of our oldest classics. Apart from the story, the film has high-end graphics and special effects.” She revealed that the budget of the film is quite high which is why she is a little nervous. “I am excited as well as a little nervous. The budget of the film is very high. But I think the audience will like the film.”
Meanwhile, Shakuntalam is based on Kalidasa’s internationally acclaimed Sanskrit play Abhijnana Shakuntalam. The trailer gives a glimpse of Shakuntala and Dushyant’s epic love story and how Dushyant forgets her after marrying her. The film is directed by Gunasekhar and Kashyap is set in Kanumalu (Kashmir). Apart from Samantha and Dev Mohan, the film also stars Allu Arha, Sachin Khedekar, Kabir Bedi, Dr M Mohan Babu, Prakash Raj, Madhubala, Gautami, Aditi Balan, Ananya Nagalla and Jisshu Sengupta.
Shakuntalam will release on 14 April.
