Samantha Ruth Prabhu goes global for playing bisexual woman with ‘The Arrangement of Love’ actress

South star Samantha Ruth Prabhu has joined the cast of feature film ‘Arrangement of Love’.

As reported by variety.com, the film will be directed by BAFTA-winning Welsh director Philip John, whose credits include “Downton Abbey” and “The Good Karma Hospital”.

The film is produced by Sunita Tati’s Indian organization Guru Films, whose name is ‘Oh! Baby’, the 2019 Telugu-language adaptation of the 2014 Korean film ‘Miss Granny’, was a commercial success. ‘Oh, is that so! Samantha starred in Baby.

Active in both Telugu and Telugu language industries, Samantha’s credits include SS Rajamouli’s ‘Eega’, ‘Super Deluxe’, ‘Janatha Garage’ and ‘Marsala’.

Sameer Sarkar of Singapore’s Magic Hour Films has joined the project as executive producer.

Sarkar had earlier produced Rotterdam winner ‘Nasir’, ‘Jonaki’ and Kolkata winner ‘The False Eye’.

‘Arrangement of Love’ by Indian author Timri N. Murari is an adaptation of the bestselling 2004 novel of the same title by John and British Sri Lankan actor Nimmi Harasagama, who played the female lead in Deepa Mehta’s ‘Funny Boy’ and is a series regular on ‘The Good Karma Hospital’.

It follows a Welsh-Indian man on a quest to find his estranged father with a sudden trip to his homeland.

Samantha plays the character of 27-year-old Prakriti, a strong minded and witty force, who runs her own detective agency and becomes a part of the search.

She is a progressive bisexual Tamil woman with ultra-traditional parents who want her to have an arranged marriage. As much as she wants to please her parents, she wants to be able to make her own life choices.

“Today a whole new world has opened up for me as I begin my journey with ‘Arrangement of Love’ which has such a sweet and personal story,” Samantha told Variety.

“I am looking forward to working with Philip John, whose projects I have followed closely for many years, being a huge fan of ‘Downton Abbey’. I look forward to working with Sunita once again.” And I hope it will have more success than the first ‘Oh! Baby’. My role is a complex character and it will be both a challenge and an opportunity for me to play it. I can’t wait to be on the sets. can.”

“Having Samantha on board is really serious. I’ve worked with her before and I must say she always brings her curiosity and talent to the project,” Tati told Variety.

“I can already imagine the life she will breathe into the character. It’s a pleasure to work with her again as we explore international waters together.”

The shooting of the film is expected to start in August 2022.
