Samantha Ruth Prabhu Gets Candid On ‘Shaakuntalam’, Says ‘There’s No Wall Between North And South Films’

Mumbai: Famous actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu is in Mumbai for the promotion of her upcoming film ‘Shakuntalam’. In recent years, as the barrier between North and South films is coming down, Samantha talks about how there is no wall between the two industries.

Samantha told ANI, “Now there is no wall between North and South films. I don’t want to get into any debate on it. As an actor, it gives me immense pleasure that I can work in films across languages Nowadays, even the audience watches films in different languages.”

`Shakuntalam` is based on a popular Indian play `Shakuntala` by Kalidasa. Shakuntala was the wife of King Dushyanta and the mother of Emperor Bharata. The pan-India mythological romantic drama will release in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.

When asked about the film, Samantha said, “It is a love story. And love is like a universe in itself. Our cultural heritage is rich. And the story of this film is inspired by one of our oldest classics. Apart from the story, the film has high-end graphics and special effects.” Dev Mohan has been paired opposite Samantha. Expressing his feeling, he said, “I am excited as well as a little nervous. The budget of the film is very high. But I think the audience will like the film.”

Samantha was recently seen in the sci-fi thriller `Yashoda` which opened to positive response from the audience. She will next be seen in an upcoming romantic film ‘Khushi’ opposite Vijay Deverakonda and action thriller web series ‘Citadel’ opposite Varun Dhawan.
