New Delhi: Bollywood superstar Salman Khan will host the 22nd edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in Abu Dhabi next year. The upcoming edition of the award show will be held at the Etihad Arena in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on March 19, 2022. The organizers shared an update about the IIFA Awards on their official Twitter handle.

Several Bollywood stars will be heading to Abu Dhabi for the much-awaited award show to be held on March 19, 2022. Before the main event, the organizers will host the IIFA weekend on March 18.

“Important announcement. The 22nd edition of the biggest festival of Indian cinema – IIFA Awards 2022 – is all set to be held at Yas Island, Abu Dhabi on March 18 and 19, 2022. We are ready. Are you?” read on IIFA’s Twitter handle. Celebrating the best of Hindi cinema, the festival will be held in the UAE for the first time.
Salman opens hosting of IIFA Awards 2022
The ‘Bharat’ actor expressed his excitement about hosting the award show in Abu Dhabi. “I have always enjoyed being part of the IIFA family and traveling to some great destinations, but this year I am so happy that we are moving to my personal favorite, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi. IIFA is always a memorable time. And it will be an even bigger celebration as we celebrate the 75th year of India’s independence and the 50th anniversary of the UAE – the Golden Jubilee celebrations.”

IIFA Awards 2020: Who won the top prize?
The 21st edition of IIFA Awards was scheduled to take place in Indore from March 27 to 29, 2020. However, they got postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Last month, the organizing team announced the names of the winners of different categories on the Instagram handle.
Shahid Kapoor won the Best Actor award for her performance in ‘Kabir Singh’, while Alia Bhatt won the Best Actress trophy for her role in ‘Gully Boy’.

On the professional front, Salman was last seen in ‘Antiem: The Final Truth’. The action drama starring Aayush Sharma released on November 26, 2021.
