Filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar was diagnosed with bladder cancer, but to everyone’s relief, he announced on Monday that he is now cancer free after two months of surgery. The 63-year-old director revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer during the production of his upcoming film Antim: The Final Truth whose trailer dropped recently. Film stars Salman Khan and Aayush Sharma in the lead role. Manjrekar shot him in the last leg of the action in the middle of his chemotherapy session.

Asked whether it was difficult to shoot the film during chemotherapy, Manjrekar said it was fortunate that the process did not affect him much. “I had to take chemotherapy before going for a major surgery. I was undergoing chemotherapy during the shoot, but it didn’t affect me that much. I have realized that work, passion drives you. I always think positive. “

He said that when he came to know about his illness, it did not surprise him by admitting it. He said that there are many other people who get this deadly disease and survive their battle. According to the filmmaker, his team was caring and helping and both his actors- Salman and Aayush were supportive.

Salman Khan also talked about Manjrekar’s passion for films which led to working in such a situation as well. The actor revealed that the former did not inform the cast about his diagnosis and after finishing a portion of the shoot, he operated on himself.

“He didn’t tell us earlier. As soon as he finished a part of the shoot, he got himself operated.”
