Saira Banu’s first reaction after Dilip Kumar’s death: ‘God took away my reason to live’

The entire nation is still in mourning due to the demise of veteran actor Dilip Kumar, who passed away on Wednesday morning. The veteran actor was 98 and is survived by his wife Saira Banu.

Ahead of the funeral of her husband Dilip Kumar, several heart-wrenching pictures of Saira Banu, who is in mourning with her body, are going viral on social media.

Meanwhile, Dr Jaleel Parker, who has been treating Dilip Kumar for years, revealed the veteran actress’s first reaction when doctors informed her about her husband’s death.

And now, as per a report in Peeping Moon, Dr Jalil Parkar shared that Saira’s first words after Dilip’s demise were, “God took away my reason to live. I can’t even think of anything without sir. Everyone, please pray.”

Meanwhile, actor Dharmendra, who was a close friend of Dilip Kumar, shared an emotional note on his friend’s demise.

Dharmendra wrote, “Saira ne jab kaha. ‘Dharam, dekho Sahab ne paplak jhapki hai’ Dosto, jaan nikal gai meri. Maalik mere pyaare bhai ko jannat naseeb kare. (When Saira said, ‘Dharam, see, Sahab is blinking’, friends, my heart broke into a million pieces. May God bless my friend with heaven).”

Mohammad Yusuf Khan, better known to the world by his screen name Dilip Kumar, was cremated on Wednesday evening at a suburban cemetery in Juhu, Mumbai amidst full state honours.

The mortal remains of the late actor were kept at his Bandra home for the last glimpse of the people even as huge crowds gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the legendary star before his last journey. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Johnny Lever and Anupam Kher were among those who met and consoled his wife Saira Banu Khan.

Later, his body was draped in the national tricolour, by a contingent of Mumbai Police, and taken in procession to the Juhu Muslim graveyard, with people on both sides of the streets bidding farewell. At the graveyard, several other top Bollywood celebrities gathered for his last ‘deedar’, awaiting the last rites brought by the police and his family members.
