Popular Marathi actress Sai Tamhankar made a name for herself in Bollywood with Kriti Sanon’s Mimi which released last year. Not many know but Sai was also a part of Aamir Khan’s Ghajini and recently in an interview with Pinkvilla, the actress revealed that she wanted to marry her co-star. While speaking to the publication of the series Woman Up, she revealed how she landed the role in the film and expressed that she is still a staunch fan of Khan.
She told that when the casting director told her that Aamir Khan had started filming, she immediately jumped on the offer because back in college, she was a staunch fan of the actor and she still is.
She recalled that she used to tell her mother that she wanted to marry Aamir Khan. “I used to tell my mother that once I grow up, I am going to marry this man. that crazy. And when this opportunity knocked, I had to jump on it.” Sai made her debut with Subhash Ghai’s Black and White.
The famous actress also spoke about her experience wearing a bikini on screen. “When I wore a bikini, surprisingly, the Marathi fraternity welcomed the gesture with open arms and an open heart. I also got some criticism. Something that I’m comfortable with, my family is comfortable with, I think that’s what matters to me. I like characters of every shade. I mean, why portray only whites, or only blacks, I think our whole lives are in the middle.”
Sai Tamhankar also spoke about his fear of being stereotyped. She said that she was scared that following her role in Hunter, she was offered such roles as “sexually depressed, sexually harassed, sexually this, sexually”.
“For three years I was looking for something that would be different from Hunter, and that would come, but it took three whole years, and then I found Love Sonia. But after Love Sonia, Mimi people started realizing this now That’s, ‘Well, she can do this, she can do that too.’ And I want to maintain this choice of diversity, which I have always affirmed,” shared Sai Tamhankar.
