Mumbai-based actress Krissan Pereira was sent to jail after she was found with drugs hidden in an award trophy

Mumbai-based actress Krissan Pereira, who was implicated in a drugs case and lodged in Sharjah Central Jail, was on Wednesday released from jail by the UAE authorities and is expected to return to India in the next 48 hours. This development comes a day after the Mumbai Police arrested two accused – Anthony Paul and Rajesh Bobate alias Ravi, who allegedly implicated him with drugs.

Chris was jailed after drugs were found hidden in an award trophy.

Paul (35), a bakery owner from Borivali, and his associate, Ravi, a banker, are in police custody till May 2.

Her distraught family in Mumbai said 27-year-old Krishan, who has been lodged in Sharjah jail since April 1, has sought her early release from the UAE jail. “We are appealing to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi And for the foreign minister’s intervention in the matter of our daughter’s release… After the investigation by the Mumbai Police, it is clear that she was framed in the entire matter,” her mother Premila Perera told the news agency IANS,

Both the accused have admitted to handing over prize trophies with drugs to three persons and cakes containing drugs to two others before leaving for Dubai, apparently as a form of vendetta against the Perera family. While two, including Krishan, inadvertently walked into the trap, three others managed to evade the authorities in Sharjah.

The accused, who identified himself as a talent consultant, had approached Premila Perera in late March to audition Krishan for a role in an international web-series in Sharjah. He also persuaded the actress to carry the trophy in which she had hidden the drugs to hand over to an associate in Sharjah who would give her hotel booking details.

After arriving in Sharjah, Chrisson found that no one came to pick him up at the airport, but local police landed, found drugs in the trophy and put him in lockup, and later in Sharjah Central Prison from 1 April.

Paul, who is said to be the brains behind the revenge, apparently harbored an old grudge against the Pereira family, especially Premila (the mother), and even tried to kill his son Kevin. Scuffled as well.

The police have found that the accused Paul had used the same modus operandi with some other aspiring actors assuring them important roles in global web-series, however, one person refused to carry the trophy, which Krishan later claimed. Ready to take it with you.

The Mumbai Police do not suspect the involvement of a drug syndicate, but only a “revenge strategy” by Paul against all the victims with whom he had some or the other problems, but are probing from different angles.

An emerging actress, Krishan has played roles in films like “Sadak 2”, “Batla House”, web-series “Thinkistan”, several stage plays and lives in suburban Borivali with her family.
