UCC Row: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Sunday said the BJP-led Center has “googled” this (Uniform Civil Code) to divert attention from real issues concerning the people. He said the talk about UCC is just “kite-flying” as there is no concrete proposal.

Rhetoric Political Speech: Pilot

Pilot alleged that there is nothing on the UCC in the standing committees or in Parliament and the talks are just based on ‘rhetoric political speech’.

He said there is no concrete proposal on UCC and it is being used only as a ‘political tool’ by the BJP-led Centre.

PM Modi again started debate on UCC

Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing a gathering of BJP workers in Bhopal last month made a strong pitch for the UCC, saying the Constitution talks about equal rights for all citizens.

“I am in favor of gender equality, people should get justice in every way whether in personal life or inheritance, but it has to be in a proper format. Why are we not talking about issues which are far more contrary to this divisive agenda? important, who is still kitesurfing?” the former Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan asked.

He said, there is nothing that has been said in the Standing Committee or Parliament and it is just a rhetorical political speech to generate reactions.

“Once the provocative issue starts being discussed in television studios and other places, will people stop talking about tomato (prices) being more than Rs 100 per kg… Jobs in hand, Inflation, the problem of the economy we are facing and whatever challenges we face, they get diluted,” Pilot said.

He said let the government have what it has to say as only different noises are heard to keep the newsroom busy with reactions and counter-reactions.

“We have to talk on issues that matter to the people. This is far more important. They (the government) have thrown a googly, now keep discussing it. The debate will continue. Nobody cares about the proposal The central government deliberately “diverts attention so that there is no discussion on inflation,” alleged the former Union minister.
