Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Wednesday that Moscow is in contact with Washington about the work of their respective embassies, state news agency RIA reported on Wednesday.
The deterioration of relations in recent years has resulted in drastic cuts in the number of embassies in both countries.
Lavrov said White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan has contacted Moscow.
