Russian artillery shelling kills 6 civilians in Ukraine’s Lyman

At least six civilians were killed and another five wounded in Russian artillery shelling in Lyman in Ukraine’s Donetsk region on Saturday, regional governor Pavlo Kirilenko said.

Kirilenko said the shelling occurred at around 10 a.m. (0700 GMT) and hit a residential area of ​​the small town.

“A house and a shop were damaged. Police are working on the site,” he said on the Telegram messaging app.

The city of Lyman is a major railway junction in the eastern Donetsk region. The Ukrainian army said in its daily military update that it had repelled an attempt by Russian troops to attack near Lyman.
