Russia to host around 1,000 Afghans: Official.
Moscow will aid the arrival of about 1,000 Afghans in Russia, especially those holding Russian citizenship or other documents, the head of the Russian Center for the Afghan Diaspora said on Wednesday.
The RIA Novosti news agency quoted Ghulam Mohamed Jalal as saying that Russian authorities have allowed the entry of certain categories of Afghan citizens, as thousands of people are willing to come to Russia, Xinhua news agency reported.
The first category is people with Russian citizenship, and the second is students who studied in Russia but are now in Afghanistan, and the third category is persons with Russian work permits and appropriate visas, and the fourth are residents of residence permits, the official said.
He said these groups have already contacted the Russian embassy in Afghanistan and they will fly to Russia as soon as the airport opens.
