Bagalkot: In the effective implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Program, Bagalkot district panchayat has won 11 awards by securing first place in the state. Zilla Parishad CEO T Bhubalan has been selected for the Best CEO Award.
The awards will be presented at a function organized by the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in Bengaluru on March 14.
Bagalkot district had secured the second position in the implementation of MGNREGA last year.
CEO T Bhubalan, who received praise for effectively implementing the smart city project in Tumakuru when he was working there as commissioner of Tumakuru Municipal Corporation and MD of smart city project, told TOI that The performance was due to the effort of the team and attributed the success. The RDPR, which has instituted the awards, selects officers for the award based on Management Information System (MIS) scores. Bagalkot Zilla Parishad has won the award for the implementation of MGNREGA and T Bhubalan has received the Best CEO award.

The highlight of the Bagalkot Zilla Parishad’s performance is more than the target of generating person days of employment. Against the target of 57 lakh man-days, the Zilla Panchayat created 60.26 lakh man-days of employment.
The Zilla Parishad secured the first position in providing employment to 2,659 disabled workers and generating 70,516 person days of employment opportunities in this category.

Bhubalan informed that one school each in nine taluks has been taken up as model school for overall development and they were provided with facilities like good classrooms, playground, kitchen garden, dining cum meeting hall, staff room and toilets. Huh. Under the comprehensive pond development program, all the tanks in the district were filled and the surrounding area was beautified by constructing walking paths, gardens and amusement parks for children.
