Speculations are rife that Anupamaa lead cast Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna might quit the show.
Anupamaa has been entertaining audiences with its emotional and engaging storyline, but recent reports suggesting a potential change in the cast and that has raised concerns among fans. Gaurav Khanna, who portrays Anuj, and Rupali Ganguly, who plays the titular character, are rumoured to be exiting the show. However, in a recent interview, Anupamaa producer Rajan Shahi addressed these rumours in a chat with HT.
The rumours of the lead actors leaving the show kicked off due to a storyline leap involving Aurra Bhatnagar, who plays Aadhya, Anupama and Anuj’s daughter. There’s speculation that a new actor might be cast as an older Aadhya. That apart, Shivam Khajuria from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, might join Anupamaa as Aadhya’s love interest after the leap.
Reacting to the rumours, Rajan Shahi said, “This is completely false. Both Gaurav and Rupali are very much part of the show and their characters are integral to the story.” He added, “I don’t know where do these rumours come from.”
A source close to the production told HT, “There is no truth to the reports. They have no reason to leave the show. This is fake news and someone’s imagination. Time and again, someone or the other keeps making up these stories about the show, but there is no truth to all this. They are both still a part of Anupamaa.”
For the upcoming episode, makers of the show have released a new promo on Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of the reunion between Anuj and Aadhya. The clip begins with Anuj praying in the temple on Janmashtami when Anupama calls out to him from behind and says, “I have brought you a gift for your birthday today,” and then she introduces him to Aadhya. Anuj gets emotional after seeing his daughter, and they hug each other. Meanwhile, Anupama leaves the two alone, and as she walks away, Aadhya calls out to her but Anupama faints.
