BJD celebrated the 25th Foundation Day on Sunday with party workers and leaders. On this occasion, CM Naveen Patnaik congratulated all the leaders, workers and well wishers of the party. Addressing the party workers, CM Naveen said that a big change has happened in Odisha over the years.
“Poverty in Odisha has come down from 43% to 28% and in the last 24 years, 80 lakh people have crossed the poverty line. Odisha is at the forefront of poverty reduction across the country and will create history by reducing poverty by 10% in five years. Our government will take whatever steps are necessary for this.”
The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has grown into a strong regional political force over the years under the leadership of party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, party leaders said on the occasion of BJD’s 25th foundation day.
In the function held at the BJD headquarters on Sunday, party leaders said that in the last two-and-a-half decades, the regional party has weathered many storms and emerged as a strong and development-oriented organisation.
Minister Ashok Chandra Panda said, “The focus of the party has been developed with priority sectors like education, health and infrastructure, which our Chief Minister has always emphasized.”
State Planning Board Deputy Chairman Sanjay Dasbarma said the party has also focused on late Biju Babu’s dream for a separate identity for Odisha and Odia and financial independence for the people of the state.
