The Calcutta High Court has handed over 5 cases from Bengal Police to CBI within 18 days. In these 3 cases, the leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) are accused. This decision of the High Court is being considered a setback for the Bengal government. At the same time, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accused the BJP of a strategy to put pressure through the CBI.

Mamta Banerjee has called a high-level meeting on Wednesday after the CBI got the responsibility of continuous investigation. In this meeting, Mamta will make further strategy. It is believed that as the CBI investigation progresses, the confrontation between Mamta and the Center will increase.

1. Birbhum Violence
Eight people died in violence on the intervening night of March 23 in Bagtui village of Birbhum. The name of the block chief of TMC came in this violence. On April 4, the High Court, after hearing this, gave the responsibility of investigation to the CBI. Mamta Banerjee welcomed the High Court’s decision, but the very next day alleged that the BJP wants to arrest our District President Anubrata Mandal through the CBI.

2. Bhadu Sheikh murder case
Violence erupted after the killing of TMC leader Bhadu Sheikh in Birbhum’s Bagtui. In such a situation, the High Court also gave the responsibility of investigating this matter to the CBI. CBI has so far arrested 4 people in Birbhum and Bhadu Sheikh murder case.

3. Murder of Congress Councilor
The High Court also snatched the investigation from the Bengal Police and handed it over to the CBI in the murder case of Congress Councilor Tapan Kandu in Jhalda, Purulia. Kandu’s wife had argued in the High Court that TMC leaders have a hand in this matter. In this case the investigation should be taken from the police.

4. Killing of Witness in Jhalda Case
The Calcutta High Court also handed over the investigation of the Niranjan Vaishnav murder case, the witness of Congress councilor murder in Jhalda, to the CBI. Actually, the hanging body of the eyewitness of Kandu murder was found. The police considered it a suicide.

5 Nadia gang rape case
The latest case is of Hanskhali in Nadia district. Here TMC leaders are accused of gang-raping a minor for three days. The High Court has handed over the investigation of this case to the CBI. Mamta Banerjee has raised questions on this incident on Tuesday.

Mamta Banerjee has come into action after handing over 5 cases to CBI within 18 days. Mamta has called Law Minister Malay Ghatak, MP Kalyan Ranjan and Advocate General of the state for a meeting at Navanna (Secretariat).

Expert View: Police could have influenced the case, so CBI got investigation
Supreme Court’s R. Justice Ashok Ganguly said on the responsibility of the investigation given to the CBI – the court will doubt the role of the police, so the CBI has got the responsibility of investigation. At the same time, Nazrul Islam, former ADGP of West Bengal, said that the government always uses the police as machinery. The ruling leaders had a role in the cases that came up. In such a situation, the police investigation could not be done properly, due to which the court handed over the case to the CBI.
