RTDC officer suspended in Jaisamand hotel lease case, MD transferred Jaipur News – Times of India

JAIPUR: After RTDC canceled the controversial lease of the 22-room Heritage Hotel Jaisamand and three other properties for an annual fee of Rs 40,000, Calligraphy, General Manager, Land Bank, was suspended by the corporation.
The Managing Director of RTDC, involved in the process of leasing out four properties near Udaipur, has also been transferred. The corporation has started investigation in both the cases.
“The General Manager of the Land Bank Division has been suspended so that he cannot influence the investigation currently being carried out. This is also the reason for the former managing director of the company, who has been transferred,” said an RTDC official.
TOI was the first to uncover the deal, which violated several prescribed norms, while RTDC leased four properties of Rangai.
The RTDC in March had awarded lease to Epitome Destination for four properties for five years commencing April 1 for a monthly rental of Rs 40,000, which may be extended for another similar period.
Thereafter the licensee took up the renovation work including construction of swimming pool without any approval from RTDC. The company was asked to explain why it failed to get approval for the construction of a swimming pool, which was not there earlier. The licensee was to undertake only repair work, not any new construction.
An inquiry committee had inspected the construction and found gross violation of the terms of the contract.
All the decisions related to lease were taken without the knowledge of RTDC Chairman and Principal Secretary Tourism.
The official said that even the files containing important decisions related to the lease process went missing, putting the entire process in question.
