RSS-affiliated BKS supports farmer’s demand for MSP

RSS-affiliated Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) on Wednesday held protests in 513 districts across the country in support of farmers’ demand for ensuring minimum support prices (MSPs). In a memorandum addressed to PM Narendra Modi, and submitted to district collectors, the BKS called for a law that would make payment of crop prices less than the MSP a punishable offence.

The organization said that the input cost has gone up and farmers are not getting remunerative price for their crops. It said the MSP was also not up to the mark, and there was a huge gap between the price at which agricultural produce is sold to the consumers and the MSP. It says that the Arhtiyas and Corporates are getting richer day by day while the farmers are getting poorer.

Earlier, BKS had said that the government should sympathetically consider the demands of the protesting farmers.
