SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR has broken several records at the box office since its release on March 25. For the Hindi version, RRR did exceptionally well by running a riot at the ticket window. However, the second Monday didn’t go so well for the numbers as UP, Bihar to Madhya Pradesh all saw a massive drop due to Ramzan. While Delhi/NCR and Punjab have not been affected much. In comparison to the business of the earlier released film The Kashmir Files which earned Rs. 12.40 crores, RRR failed to cross its collection.
As per the BOI report, the film was expected to do a business of over 85 crores by the second Friday, but looks like it will now have to earn a total of 75 crores in the second week, which is still not bad. , Undoubtedly, the film is a superhit in Hindi and will earn around 205 crores. It will rank highest in post-pandemic places like Bihar, Rajasthan, CP Berar and CI. Despite the fall in Gujarat/Saurashtra on Monday, it could still go close to the 35 crore net mark in that circuit which is more than the likes of Dangal, Sanju and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
Earlier, sharing his thoughts about RRR’s incredible theatrical performance in March, film analyst Taran Adarsh had tweeted, “#RRR is super-solid…will cross ₹200 cr on Tuesday. [Day 12]… #TKF and #RRR, two ₹200 crore films in #March, unbelievable indeed… Also, #JrNTR and #RamCharan’s first ₹200 crore grosser [#Hindi], [Week 2] Venus 13.50 crores, Saturn 18 crores, Sun 20.50 crores. Total: ₹ 184.59 crore. #IndiaBiz.”
The film has done exceptionally well on the global front. RRR is now the fifth highest grossing Indian film worldwide, surpassing PK. The film’s total stand internationally has crossed Rs 900 crore. The success of RRR marked a remarkable achievement at the Indian box office, especially in the North. This is the third hit of the year after Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi and The Kashmir Files.
