RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam from May 9: Check exam pattern, passing marks

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has announced to conduct Phase 2 exam for RRB NTPC on 9th May and 10th May. This exam will be for jobs at level 4 and 6. The exam schedule for pay level 2, 3 and 5 will be as follows: Announced later, RRB said in an official notice.

Only shortlisted candidates in CBT 1 will be allowed to appear for CBT 2. CBT 1 was conducted from December 28 to July 31, 2021. The result of CBT-1 was published on the official websites of RRBs between March 30. Till 1st April 2022.

A separate second stage CBT will be taken for each of the 7th CPC level i.e. Level 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 with graded difficulty level. All the posts which fall under the same level as 7th CPC will have a common 2nd stage CBT. If candidates are eligible for more than one level of 7th CPC posts as per their educational qualification, they are required to appear in Common 1st Stage CBT and respective 2nd Stage CBT for each level of 7th CPC, as per official notice.

Around 2.25 lakh candidates out of around 1 crore candidates registered for the exam will be declared successful in the CBT-1 exam. After the result, railway job aspirants protested the demand for revision of the result alleging that some of the selected students have been shortlisted for multiple posts thereby reducing the chances for others. The students also alleged that graduates were also given preference for posts having class 12 as the minimum qualification.

After the protest, RRB re-released the result and 20 times more candidates were selected who will now appear for the RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam. The second phase of the recruitment process will be specific to the job roles. There are 35,000 posts of NTPC advertised by Railways.

RRB NTPC CBT 2: Exam Pattern

RRB NTPC CBT 2 exam will be of 90 minutes duration in which candidates will have to solve 120 questions including 50 from General Awareness, 35 from Mathematics and 35 questions from General Intelligence & Reasoning section. The exam duration for eligible PWBD candidates with one writer will be 120 minutes. The questions will be of objective type with multiple choice questions and each question will be of one mark.

RRB NTPC CBT 2: Passing Marks

To qualify the exam, candidates need a minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories. For unreserved category, candidates need to secure at least 40 percentile, EWS candidates need 40 percentile, OBC (non-creamy layer) candidates need at least 30 percentile, SC candidates need to secure 40 percentile. Also, the minimum marks required is 30 percent and for ST candidates, 25 percent is required. These percentages of marks may be relaxed by 2 per cent for eligibility in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for PwBD candidates.
