RRB Group D Recruitment Criteria Changed, Railways Reveals Selection Criteria for Single Exam

Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released a notification announcing some major changes in the recruitment process for RRB Ground D 2022 competitive exam.

The new notification modifies certain “items” listed in the Centralized Employment Notice No. RRC-01/2019. In the notification dated April 7, 2022, changes have been made in various aspects of the examination such as EWS (Economically Weaker Section) reservation, normalization of marks in multi-session papers, preference of posts and document verification.

As per the notice, RRB has discontinued the stage two of CBT (Computer Based Test) and now there will be only one, single-stage, CBT exam. Moreover, candidates belonging to EWS category can now submit the certificate issued after the date of notification at the time of document verification.

RRB has also changed the number of candidates called for document verification. The notice mentioned that earlier, after qualifying in CBT and Physical Efficiency Test (PET), candidates called for document verification were 1.05 times or five per cent more than the number of vacancies. RRB has now decided that the number of candidates called for document verification will be equal to the number of vacancies notified.

The notice also mentioned that the normalization of marks will be based on percentile-based method. Further, if two or more candidates get the same normalized percentile score, then the merit of the candidates will be decided on the basis of age criteria. This means that an older candidate will be placed on a higher merit. In case of same age, alphabetical order will be taken into account to break the tie.

The board has also made some changes in the designation of Assistant Pointsman. As per the new notification, the designation will now be known as ‘Pointsman’.

RRB Group D exam is scheduled to be conducted from July 2022.
