Ronit Roy is being offered Zero Dark Thirty but is unable to do so due to Student Of The Year.
Ronit Roy explained on The Kapil Sharma Show that he had to say no to the project as Karan Johar’s team was unwilling to accommodate the dates.
Ronit Roy played the role of a physical education teacher in Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan’s debut film Student of the Year. The Karan Johar directorial that was all the rage in 2012, Adalat came with its own set of compromises for the actor as it offered a reminiscence of Kathryn Bigelow’s Oscar-winning film Zero Dark Thirty. But since Karan Johar’s team refused to adjust the dates, he had to lose his big Hollywood project. And as luck would have it, the Student Of The Year schedule got delayed.
Ronit Roy, who was recently The Kapil Sharma The show along with Shehzada actors Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon revealed, “I got the offer of Zero Dark Thirty and that too without any audition. They said, ‘We don’t need an audition because Kathryn Bigelow (the film’s director) has seen your work and she wants you in the role.’
He said, “Since his film is scheduled, it can’t be shifted. We can’t tell him, ‘Agle saal aana jaise ye Kartik bolta hai’. So, Karan had my dates. I told him, Karan se No but asked his team, and I said, ‘Working with an Oscar-winning filmmaker is a big deal for me.’ But he said, ‘No, it’s not possible, we can’t release dates. So, I said no to Zero Dark Thirty.
Calling it the biggest downfall of his life, Ronit shared that he called up Karan Johar’s team for any update. He had replied, “Haan hum abhi woh kar nahi rahe (We are not doing it right now)”. So, neither did he let me do that (Zero Dark Thirty) nor did he shoot his film. It was the biggest bummer of my life. Responding to this, Kriti quipped, “That’s the problem with being ethical.” Karthik Aryan also said, ‘That’s why I am not ethical.’
The American thriller film Zero Dark Thirty depicts the decades-long manhunt for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, who was directly responsible for some of the deadliest terrorist attacks, such as the 9/11 attacks. Osama bin Laden was eventually traced to a secret and fortified house in Abbottabad, where he was eventually killed in a military raid.
