Gajendra Chauhan, who plays Yudhishthira in Mahabharat, is the new VC of Rohtak Supwa.

Gajendra Chauhan, who played the character of Yudhishthira in Mahabharata, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Pandit Lakhmichand State University of Performing and Visual Arts, located in Rohtak district of Haryana. He will take over as the Vice-Chancellor at 11 am today. Haryana Governor and Chancellor of the university Bandaru Dattatreya issued orders for his appointment late Tuesday evening. This post in Supwa is vacant since 20 February 2020.

Gajendra Chauhan’s name was already included in the race for Vice Chancellor. Changes were also made in the educational qualification and criteria for the post of Vice Chancellor in the university. In which priority was given to the person associated with culture and film. The names of actors Satish Kaushik, Randeep Singh Hooda, singer Kailash Khair, Anupam Khair were also being discussed for the post of Vice Chancellor. But finally Gajendra Chauhan has been appointed for this post.

Gajendra Chauhan was born on 10 October 1956 in Delhi. He did a Diploma in Radiography from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Before that he moved to Mumbai for acting. He studied acting at the school run by Roshan Taneja. Gajendra Chauhan acted in many films and serials. But his special recognition came from the character of Yudhishthira in the Mahabharata serial in 1988-90. Gajendra got a new identity as the character of Yudhishthira.

Had to leave the post of FTII only for 2 years
Appointed as the President of Film and Television Institute of India Pune in 2015. After his appointment as the president, the people of the film world strongly opposed it. Not only the film world but also the media, politicians and other sections of people stood against Gajendra Chauhan. However, some film personalities also stood in his support. He finally resigned from his post in October 2017.
