Ahead of the South Africa tour, India’s newly-appointed white-ball captain Rohit Sharma began his preparations with a training session in Mumbai on Friday. Sharma, 34, shared a video clip on social media in which he can be seen working with throw-down specialists on a pitch full of pace and bounce.

He can also be seen defending or dropping the ball while concentrating on his Test cricket game.

Rohit wrote on Instagram along with the video, “Starting in 3.2..1.”

The star Indian opener, who began his stint as full-time captain in T20Is with a 3-0 win over New Zealand last month, was on Wednesday appointed the captain of the ODI side.

Rohit has also been made the new vice-captain of the team. India Ajinkya will replace Rahane in the Test. So, the upcoming South Africa tour will be huge for them.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami also returned to the nets in the Nationals Cricket Academy where he can be seen bowling a few overs under his belt. He was rested along with fellow pacer Jasprit Bumrah from the recently concluded home series against New Zealand.
