According to the report of the website Cricbuzz, India’s new Test vice-captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the three-match Test series against South Africa. The 34-year-old was recently promoted to the position and was all set to play the series opener in Centurion. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, he injured himself while practicing at the Bandra Kurla Complex. Gujarat batsman Priyank Panchal will be his cover.
There is no confirmation whether he will play the ODI series or not as the nature of the injury is said to be serious. He had been practicing in Mumbai for the past one week to prepare for the three-match series. News agency PTI reported that he had suffered a hand injury.
