India’s impressive win over West Indies marked a fresh start for the Men in Blue in the third edition of the World Test Championship. The Men in Blue registered an innings and 141-run win over the hosts and took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series. Meanwhile, this series is all about the youngsters getting a chance and having fun in the series.
Yashvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan were handed their Test debuts and all eyes were on them. While Jaiswal played a blistering 171, Kishan played only 20 balls and scored 1 in India’s 421 in the first innings. However, skipper Rohit Sharma lost his temper at his Mumbai Indians teammate and made a hand gesture to show his disappointment towards the wicket-keeper batsman.
When did the incident happen?
The incident happened when Kishan was batting on the third day of the Test match. Afterwards Virat KohliA wicket and India with runs galore, the declaration was close. At the start of the 153rd over, Sharma was seen gesturing from the dressing room as to what the Indian batsmen were doing in the middle. They were going slow and Kishan didn’t score a single in his first 19 balls. Sharma seemed annoyed with the scoring rate. However, after Kishan opened the scoring sheet on his 20th ball, India captain Rohit Sharma declared the innings.

I wanted Kishan to leave his mark: Sharma
Especially after the match, Sharma also revealed about his announcement plan. He said that he wanted Ishaan Kishan to get out before calling back the players. “I was just telling them that we have one over before we announce. I wanted Ishan to get off the mark, I wanted to tell him to get his individual mark and then we had to announce. I Could see he was always keen on batting, it might be disappointing for him,” Sharma said after the match.
