On Saturday night, he allegedly consumed liquid hand wash inside a washroom and was later found lying unconscious. On enquiry, he complained of vomiting and abdominal pain. He was taken to Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital and was referred to AIIMS from there, a senior police officer said.

“When the police personnel went to the hospital to check on him, they told him that he had not eaten anything. But we spoke to the doctors and they said he had consumed hand washing,” he said.

“He is undergoing treatment at AIIMS and is completely stable. All his organs are normal. A senior doctor will examine him tomorrow (Monday) and he is expected to be discharged. He will be questioned soon,” the official said. “

The officer said that the accused had prepared himself in advance as to how he would escape questioning if he was caught.

“He is misleading and manipulating the investigation team by evading interrogation. He is uncooperative and is using what he has read about the system to evade interrogation,” he said.

The IED planted by Bharat Bhushan Kataria caused a low-intensity blast in Court Room No. 102. Naib Court head constable Rajiv was injured in the blast.

The police had said that the IED was not assembled properly, due to which only the detonator exploded.
