Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani: ‘Bra,’ Mamata Banerjee’s reference removed to avoid potential conflict

New Delhi: Ahead of the release of the much awaited Dharma film ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem KahaniThe Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked filmmakers to remove certain words and dialogues that could potentially cause controversy.

One of the many suggestions was related to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the reference to the Lok Sabha. The CBFC recommended the removal of both the elements to ensure clearance for the film’s release. After which the entire scene was cut.

Additionally, the CBFC asked the makers of the film to cut a scene from the lingerie shop and suggested replacing the word “bra” with “item”.

Among other changes made in the romantic-comedy film, a swear word was changed to “sister di”. In addition, there was also a mention of the liquor brand ‘Old Monk’ which was changed to ‘Bold Monk’.

After all these censor cuts, the film was cleared for release on 19 July. The film got the certification and is now all set to release on July 28. The film is of 168 minutes, which is equivalent to 2 hours and 48 minutes.

According to officials, the decision has been taken to keep the film within the limits of CBFC.

‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’ is a much-awaited film for classic Bollywood lovers who love a combination of family drama, heroine dancing in mountains in chiffon saree, big aesthetic sets filled with solid colors with touches of family conflict.

In the film, Ranveer Singh is in the role of Rocky coming from a Punjabi family, while Alia Bhatt i.e. Rani in the film is from a typical Bengali family. The trailer shows the characters falling in love but finding it difficult to convince their families. So the couple swap houses to impress each other’s family.
