During the protest against the lathi charge during the Chief Minister’s program, there was a police cantonment in Karnal on Tuesday. The atmosphere around the city market, especially the Anaj Mandi and the Mini Secretariat, remained deserted. At the same time, in the rest of the city, the shutters of most shops were down and barricading was seen at the square-intersections apart from the police force. During this time the common people had to face a lot of trouble.

Let us inform that on August 28, the police force lathi-charged the agitating farmers for opposing the program of Chief Minister Manohar Lal in Karnal. It has been criticized everywhere for more than a week, while on Tuesday again, farmers’ organizations had announced to surround the small secretariat. Earlier, a large number of farmers gathered in the grain market and marched from here towards the Mini Secretariat. Earlier, tight security arrangements were made by the police. Police force was deployed by putting up barricades at the squares and squares of the city.

On the other hand, markets were also closed in view of the fear of untoward incident. Petrol pumps, showrooms and other shops located near Anaj Mandi and Mini Secretariat remained closed. People faced problems due to barricading on the streets of the city. Traffic was very less, while vehicles were seen plying on the flyover.

Only 3 buses went from Panipat to Karnal in one and a half hours
In view of the mahapanchayat of farmers in Karnal, people avoided going towards Karnal on Tuesday. Between 12 noon and 1.30 pm, only three buses went from Panipat to Karnal. The number of passengers in these buses was not much. Whereas in the same interval 11 buses from Karnal side went towards Panipat.

In view of the farmers’ Mahapanchayat, the Karnal administration had banned the movement of vehicles in the city. Such vehicles were removed from the diverted route along the flyover. When people unaware of the administration’s decision came out, they were stopped at barricades at various places, due to which people could not even deal with the necessary work. While the vehicular movement on the flyover remained normal. Many vehicles passed from Panipat to Chandigarh. No barricading was seen on the flyover.
