Patna, December 18: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Saturday hit out at the Nitish Kumar government for “top-down” corruption in Bihar and said the party would soon launch a state-wide protest against rising unemployment. Leader of the Opposition, he said, the RJD will also organize a mega rally against unemployment after Makar Sankranti (January 14) at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Taking a dig at the Nitish Kumar government in the state, he said that the NDA government in Bihar is deaf and dumb. Recent reports by central government agencies show the Bihar government as a failure on almost all indicators.

NDA has 39 MPs out of 40 in Bihar, but the state has been ranked last in the NITI Aayog report. Its recently released National Multidimensional Poverty Index report states that 51.91 percent of Bihar’s population is poor. Even Jharkhand has less number of poor people (42.16 per cent) and it ranks second and Uttar Pradesh (36.65%) ranks third. He said that Kerala has emerged as the best state with only 0.71% poor people. Bihar also has the highest number of malnourished people. He said that it also topped the list of states where households do not have electricity connections.
