Riyan Parag told the last over of Karthik Tyagi the magic of number one

Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag heaped praise on young pacer Karthik Tyagi, who helped his team to a two-run victory over Punjab Kings. IPL match, saying that it was the number one spell of his cricketing career. I think, 100 percent, the number one spell I have seen so far in my cricketing career. But then I hope he (Karthik) will do the same for the rest of the game and win us more matches, Parag said in a post-match media conference on Tuesday.

Tyagi bowled a sensational last over as Rajasthan Royals secured an incredible two-run victory over Punjab Kings in an IPL thriller here. Punjab Kings needed four runs in the final over but Tyagi snatched his team’s victory by conceding only one run by dismissing Nicholas Pooran (32) and Deepak Hooda (0). Parag said that he pushed fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman to take the game to the 20th over. We were in the driving seat after the first innings, but then I think, we were bad on the field and then the game was going away from us.

Then in the 19th over, I told Mustafizur (Rahman), don’t let it end in this over and we have a chance to bowl the 20th ball and those boys were crazy, defending eight runs in the last two overs, just unbelievable , said the player from Assam. Parag also said that he kept the helicopter shot in his arsenal while batting in the death overs, where bowlers mostly bowl yorkers.

I think, this is a shot (helicopter shot) that you should have in your arsenal because I bat mostly at death and most bowlers perfect yorkers, so I am just keeping one option. If it’s a yorker or in my line, I can use the chopper (shot). It didn’t pay off well today, but I am confident that I will get the same ball in the next match, I will try the same, said the 19-year-old Guwahati-born right-handed batsman.

He admitted that he had a day off on the field. It was just a bad day, we rate ourselves as really good fielders, I rate myself as one of the best fielders and it’s at the end of the day even I’m human. I can also drop a catch.

But after that we have two practice sessions and work really hard on that and hopefully from the next match (we) are the better fielding side, he quipped. Rajasthan were bundled out for 185 in exactly 20 overs after going strong at 169 for 5 in 17 overs and according to Parag it was a bad day for the lower-middle order.
