Speaking on India’s positives ahead of the Super 8s, Harbhajan Singh feels that Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have exceeded expectations.
As the Indian team gear up for the Super 8s of the T20 World Cup 2024, the former Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh reflects on India’s camapaign so far and feels that the biggest postives for the Men in Blue is the pair of Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya who have been standout with the bat and ball respectively.
Speaking on Star Sports, the former Indian off-spinner suggested that Hardik Pandya has done more than what was expected of him considering that he was picked as the fourth bowling option for the side. .
“The biggest positive is that Hardik Pandya took the wicket. He was the fourth bowler in this tournament. But if you look at his wicket tally, he has done much better than what was expected of him,” Harbhajan said.
He also talked about Pant’s performances with the bat. To keep the left-right batting combination going, Pant was promoted up to number 3 in the batting order and has been India’s best batter in the tournament being able to attack the bowlers despite the conditons that are pitted against the best of batters.

“To make Rishabh Pant play at number three is a big positive. The left-Right combination is formed when Rishabh Pant plays at number three,” Harbhajan said on Pant’s promotion up the order.
“There are a lot of positives. Of course, there are challenges and difficulties. But the challenges come in front of those who are brave. This team is a team of brave players.
“They fought well and played very well. Because of this, they topped the group,” he added.
The Men in Blue will hope that once the tournament is back in the Caribbean their star opening pair of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma can get back among the runs to help India go long in the campaign.

The Indian team are set to take on Afghanistan in their first game of the Super 8s that will take place at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on June 20. The Indian team will be desperate for that title to end their long-standing title-drought.
