There is news of bitterness in the relationship between election strategist Prashant Kishor’s company I-PAC and Mamata Banerjee. Discord in the TMC escalated on Friday when leaders considered close to party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee openly advocated “one man one post”, according to which a party member should hold one post.

Here, the controversy over a tweet on the same matter also caught fire. Chandrima Bhattacharya, a minister in the Mamta government, has made a big allegation on I-PAC, saying that some tweets have been made from her social media account without her knowledge. After this controversy came to the fore, Mamta Banerjee has called an emergency meeting of the party on Saturday.

Chandrima alleged that her social media account is being misused by Prashant Kishor’s team. Bhattacharya was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that a Twitter account in my name was created by I-PAC before the elections. After this the company posted something about ‘one person one post’ without my knowledge. I strongly oppose this.

Prashant’s company I-PAC clarified
Responding to this, I-PAC wrote – I-PAC does not handle any digital property of Trinamool Congress or any of its leaders. Anyone making such a claim is either uninformed or is clearly lying. The party should see if and how their digital assets or their leaders are being allegedly (mis)used.

What is the ‘one person, one position’ case?
One person, one post is being planned by Abhishek Banerjee, which he has prepared with the help of I-PAC. It has been part of Abhishek Banerjee’s efforts to reorganize the party internally. But the old party comrades are not comfortable with this.

Last week, ahead of the upcoming elections in 108 municipalities of West Bengal, two lists of TMC candidates were released. After this, there was a rift in the relations between TMC and I-PAC. It is also being told that there are signs of a rift between Mamta Banerjee and nephew Abhishek over going to Uttar Pradesh to help in the campaign of Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Invitation to only 6 leaders in Mamta’s meeting
Sources in the ruling party told news agency PTI, the TMC supremo has called an emergency meeting of senior party functionaries at his residence on Saturday evening. Sources further said, only six senior leaders (national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, general secretary Partha Chatterjee, state party president Subrata Bakshi and ministers Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas and Chandrima Bhattacharya) have been asked to attend the meeting.

Talks about ending the agreement between TMC and I-PAC
According to NDTV, for the last few weeks, there has been a lot of speculation about the growing differences between Mamata Banerjee and Prashant Kishor. The Bengali newspaper Dainik Anandabazar Patrika has given information about SMS between the two.

According to the newspaper, Prashant Kishor wrote to Mamta in a message that he does not want to work for TMC in Bengal, Meghalaya and Odisha, to which CM Mamta replied by saying thank you. This dispute is also being linked to the termination of the agreement between TMC and I-PAC. It is being told that Mamta has shunned Prashant Kishor’s company from the task of making party’s strategy.
