Rhea Chakraborty has said that her friends supported her parents while she and her brother were lodged in jail, after the death of Sushant Singh Rajput.
Rhea Chakraborty has shared her experience of being in jail following the tragic death of her ex-boyfriend, Sushant Singh Rajput, in 2020. Looking back at that challenging period, she spoke about the crucial role her friends played in helping her cope and how they supported her parents while she and her brother were lodged in Byculla jail.
Rhea recalled a surprising moment, when on her release from jail, she noticed that her parents and friends had gained weight during her time in jail. Curious, she asked them about it, only to learn that her friends had regularly visited her parents, sharing meals and drinks with them every night. “One of my friends – couple friends – they used to drink with my dad and eat food with them every night while we were inside. When I came out, ‘I’m like, why have you gained so much weight? Kameeno, main waha jail mein thi aur tumlog yaha khana khaa rahe ho, weight put on kar rahe ho (I was in jail and you were eating food and putting on weight). They were like, ‘No, dude. We were just trying to make uncle-aunty eat and drink and make them feel a little normal. And I was, like, ‘Oh wow!’”
This act of kindness left a deep impact on Rhea. Speaking of the unwavering support of her friends and their efforts to help her family cope, she added, “I was surrounded by superpowers of women. Some of my girlfriends – the way they stood by me – my God! You don’t need anything else – you can have one true friend in life and that’s enough. Shibani (Dandekar) was that for me. The way Shivani stood for me was enough for me to know that the whole world can be against me but I have one friend.
On the personal front now, Rhea Chakraborty is rumoured to be dating Zerodha founder Nikhil Kamath.
