In 2017, former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh was acquitted in a molestation case in Hong Kong, where he went for a two-month clinical exchange programme

Seven years ago, former RG Kar hospital principal Dr Sandip Ghosh landed in deep trouble when he was visiting Hong Kong. In 2017, he was acquitted in a molestation case in the city, where he went for a two-month clinical exchange programme.

Now jailed for alleged financial corruption and linked to the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar hospital, Ghosh underwent trial and was acquitted in the case in Hong Kong.

According to a report published by SCMP, his name matches that of an “Indian orthopaedist who appeared in a Hong Kong court in 2017 over allegations he molested a male nursing student at Queen Elizabeth Hospital”.

The controversial ex-principal was in Hong Kong for only a few days as the exchange programme was cancelled due to the trial in the indecent assault case. SCMP quoted a medical sector source saying he only briefly worked at the Yau Ma Tei hospital.
