Review cases to lift extra curbs, but be vigilant, states told | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: With the Covid-19 scenario improving with steady decline in active cases across the country, the Center has asked states to review the trend and lift additional curbs to allow smooth movement and facilitate economic activities.
“Presently, as the case trajectory is showing a sustained downward trend, it’ll be useful if states/UTs review and amend/do away with additional restrictions so imposed after considering trend of new cases, active cases and positivity within state and UT, ” health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said in a letter to states and UTs on Tuesday.
However, he advised all states and UTs to continue monitoring the situation and the Covid trajectory on a daily basis. The Center also suggested a broad five-fold strategy of test track-treat-vaccination and adherence to Covid-appropriate behaviour, to keep the pandemic under control.
“I’m sure that under your continued leadership the state and UT will continue to address the challenge of Covid-19 while minimizing its impact on lives and livelihood of people,” he added.
India was hit by the third wave of Covid-19 late December last year.
