Retired professor’s son shot dead in Patna hostel Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Two people have died in the state capital since Saturday night. One of the dead was Vishnu Kumar (35), the son of a retired associate professor of BN College. He was shot inside his room at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Hostel Saidpur Under Bahadurpur police station area around 10 pm on Saturday night.
The other was an autorickshaw driver, identified as Jitendra Kumar Singh (55). He was murdered in front of Parsa Bazar railway station on Sunday morning.
Vishnu, called ‘Sigma’ by other students in the hostel, was the son of Dr Nandlal Paswan, who had recently retired as an associate professor of psychology from Patna University’s BN College. Khan said that Nandlal was earlier the warden of this hostel. Vishnu was a slow learner and had been living there for the past several years. “He used to cook food for other hostel students and eat them himself instead,” Khan said.
The SHO said that Nandlal currently resides in the nearby Professor Colony. He said other students of the hostel heard gunshots and informed the police. There were no eyewitnesses to the incident, he said and added: “The reason behind the murder is still unknown. Even the family members are unable to say anything.
Vishnu’s brother has lodged an FIR against unknown people.
In the second incident, Jitendra was shot dead by unidentified criminals when he was waiting outside Parsa railway station with a friend for passengers in an autorickshaw.
Parsa Bazar Police Station SHO cum DSP (Probation) Beloved Jyoti said that people must have seen the killers, but out of fear, no one told the police anything. Preliminary investigation revealed that Singh had two wives. “His first wife lives in Khaira with Singh’s three adult sons. The second wife went missing five years ago. Singh had a son named Mukesh. Both used to live together in Parsa Bazar market area,” said Priya.
He said that there was a dispute between Singh’s sons with two wives over their property in their native village New Etwarpur under Parsa Bazar police station area. “Mukesh suspected the involvement of his half-brothers in the murder of his father. He has also alleged that they killed Singh with a motive to usurp his property,” said the trainee DSP.
“Raids are being conducted to nab Singh’s sons from the first wife,” he said.
