Restrictions and tests added for Indians in Tokyo Olympics

No contact with others for the first three days

Last week, the organizers issued an advisory instructing India, among other countries, not to “interact with or train with athletes from another country” for the first three days after arriving in Tokyo. This would effectively mean that athletes would be allowed to train and eat in common areas only two days before the start of the Olympics.

“Athletes are allowed to come to the sports village only five days before their event,” IOA president Narinder Batra and secretary Rajeev Mehta said in a joint statement issued a day after the announcement.

“Now three days will be wasted, this is the time when athletes need to go back to their mode… For the Indian athletes, who have been discriminated against just five days before the Olympics, who have worked hard for five years , is very inappropriate for.”

“During these three days where and when will the athletes get their breakfast, lunch, dinner, as everyone gets food in the food hall of the sports village where all the athletes and other NOC (National Olympic Committees) officials are at all times. remain present,” the statement added.
