Residents Demand Booth Slips | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: A section of residents of the housing units of the Tamil Nadu urban habitat development board at Ukkadam staged a protest on Thursday night, complaining that they have not received booth slips distributed by the city corporation to cast vote in the Saturday’s urban local body election.
The protesters, mostly women, said that they did not know where to vote. No candidate turned up to canvass for votes.
The residents were evicted from the Valankulam lake area, where works were carried out under the Smart City scheme. “We have elector photo identity cards, but do not know where to cast votes. We have not received booth slips. Many of us did not vote in the last assembly election due to confusion and lack of information about voting booths,” said Megalaa resident.
Officials pressed into booth slip distribution are still searching for the addresses of the residents in the old place, a city corporation official said. “A team distributed booth slips to 600 voters in Ukkadam on Friday. The slips were also distributed to 300 voters shifted to Malumichampattihe said.
